Introduction
Utkala kingdom was located in the northern and eastern portion of the modern-day Indian state of Odisha. It is mentioned in the epic Mahabharata with the names Utkala, Utpala, and Okkal, and it finds a proud place in India’s national anthem, Jana Gana Mana. Utkal means a glorious and wonderful land, renowned for its finest art—"उत्कृष्ट कलायाः देशः यः सः उत्कलः"—meaning “the land having an excellent opulence of artists.”
Odisha officially became a separate province on 1st April 1936, a day celebrated as “Utkal Divas.” This was made possible by the combined efforts of the people and visionary leaders like “Utkala Gouraba” Madhusudan Das, “Utkala Mani” Gopabandhu Das, Maharaja Krushna Chandra Gajapati, Pandit Nilakantha Das, Fakir Mohan Senapati, Gangadhar Meher, Sir Basudeba Sudhaladeba, Radhanath Ray, Bhubanananda Das, and countless others.
Inspired by this legacy, we the Utkalians are determined to achieve our ambitions with a competitive spirit. We aim to excel in every field, committed to our goals, and known as all-rounders and achievers. True to our motto, “One Team, One Dream,” we work together with unity and dedication, always striving to be the best.
Our navy blue colour symbolizes stability, reliability, sophistication, depth, and expertise. It also represents bravery, instilling in our cadets the courage to face any situation in life with confidence and fortitude.
